Your Strengths Cards

Using Your Strengths Cards

This activity will help you identify and reflect on the unique strengths that define you. By working through the steps below, you’ll uncover the abilities that set you apart and explore how they can feature more prominently in your life.

Step 1: Prepare Your Cards
Print out the Strengths and Sorting Cards and cut them into individual cards.
If you prefer not to cut them, you can circle the strengths that resonate with you directly on the sheet.

Step 2: Initial Sorting
Look through the cards and sort them into three piles:
Definitely Me: Strengths that you feel strongly reflect who you are.
Somewhat Me: Strengths you occasionally use or feel are present but not dominant.
Not Me: Strengths you don’t feel represent you at this time.
Example of Sorting:
As you sort your cards, think about how often you use each strength and how central it feels to who you are. For instance:
“Alex felt that ‘Creative’ and ‘Reliable’ were Definitely Me strengths because they show up consistently in both his work and personal life. He often uses his creativity to solve problems and his reliability to meet deadlines.”
“Alex placed ‘Humorous’ in the Somewhat Me pile. While he enjoys making people laugh occasionally, he doesn’t see it as a defining characteristic or something he uses often.”
“Alex put ‘Adventurous’ in the Not Me pile because he generally prefers familiar routines and doesn’t feel adventurous aligns with his personality.”

In the next (optional) activity, you’ll reflect on how your strengths can be intentionally used to enrich and support the six key life domains.
